DOUGLAS FIR

(Pseudotsuga menziesii glauca)

GR – medium HT – 100’

Native California to Alaska

Douglas fir is not related to the true firs. The branches are spreading to dropping and the buds are sharply pointed. The needles are green to blue green, 1” – 1 ½” long, soft to the touch and radiate out in all directions from the branch. They have a sweet citrus aroma when crushed. The cones are oval shaped and hang down.
